For the comic con report, check my dA page. I'm just too lazy writing it again here.

Anyway, right now I'm in process of revamping everything, especially graphically. Probably no update for a while.

London Comic Con
Hey guys, I'll be at London Comic Con tomorrow and I'll be having a booth there.
...
....
......
........No, I'm just joking. I'll be there as a normal visitor. It's my first con outside Malaysia though, and boy it had been ages I last went to a con. The last one was CF back in 2009. You do the math.
Kinda excited to see how an actual international con works. I mean, I no longer consider CF a proper con or any con in Malaysia for that matter, because the last few years they had turned into Chinese-Mmorpg-trial-campaign-fest. I mean, come on, I can't even play 80% of the games offered there. No point taking all those demo cds they handing out.
Will report this when I return, with pics of course.

Some updates.
Recently I purchased Cintiq 12 wx, which I think will tremendously improve my workflow.
...Or so I thought. Actually it's been 3 weeks since then, but I haven't made much progress with the sprites update. It seems that I still have some issues with the university that although the exam already over, I still owe them something. This year have been pretty sloppy to me. I don't really have anyone to blame but myself, so I just need to deal with it.
Anyway, the game codes are also being updated, thanks to my collaboration in a certain project. I will not spoil what it is yet because it is still in very early stage so anything I would say here will not reflect the final product. But I have learned a lot from that project that I can implement in this game.
Problem is that I am easily influenced. Seeing the potential, I thought of making this game more interactive but that is not my intention. I would like to focus more on the story rather than exploration because I am writing a novel not making an RPG.
There are some feedbacks I received from the previous demo. I just list them here:
1) A lot of player noted that the protagonist is too broken from the beginning. While I do want to portray the protagonist as some who is broken hearted from beginning, I guess it was too much. Readers could not symphatise with him at all that they were turn off with his personality. I need to make him a bit more lighter and corrupt him as the story progresses.
2) The language used. I made way too much grammatical mistakes. While English not my primary language, that is not an excuse since I am writing in English anyway. I tried to employ proofreader and actually landed one, but I discovered the person whoever it was does not have a helping spirit after all. I did mentioned that the payment only act as incentive rather than actual payment for the job and they shouldn't expect much since I don't have much money anyway, but he/she went on charging me like professionals anyway. That left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I AM complaining here. This game is not something for profit, but I was expected to pay up just like a company does. Please understand, I'm working for this alone for most of the part and do not have the money like a company do.
3)Glitches. There are some programming glitches, which especially comes with the graphical interface. I'm still fixing it, but I also realised that I need to let go some parts because they are just not possible with the engine. I am no programmer, but there isn't anyone but me to deal with it. Again, I'm not expecting to achieve some sophisticated interface but just enough in-game system to prevent players from being confused.
4) The way the story is presented. I used a combination of novel/adv storytelling, but it doesn't turn out well for some. In my opinion, having a full adv narration reduces the seriousness of the story, making it feel like a comic book but going full novel prevents me from depicting action scenes properly. So I decided to combine both.
But since the protagonist will comment alot during his interaction with others, it is a bit jarring having the switch every 4-5 lines or so. This can only be fixed by actually completing the game and going through the actual play myself to determine which presentation works best, so I am leaving this issue for last.
So to summarise, my biggest weakness here is writing. I love to write, way back from my school days and I consider wring in English as my forte, but after presenting my writings to the world, I don't feel like that anymore. I just can't write like natives do. This really hampers my confidence. Very much so.
Eh... let's get back to writing.

Some update.
This blog is not dead... yet.
Script have reached 70% completion. While I can complete the script and just get it integrated into the game, I have this very bad habit of proofreading while writing. Which costs me my motivation. I'll begin reading the script before adding new ones when I realised there are many mistakes in the previous part, and while I am checking those, I will feel how tedious it is, so I would watch some random stuff on youtube and the day will end. Rinse and repeat. Crap.
I think I (almost) have a solution for this, by asking my housemate to do it, but she always seems so busy with her stuff, so I have my doubts. She did said 'okay, I'll do it', but for the most of the day she would be out, so it's hard for her to actually spend a few hours typing on the computer.
I also thinking of revamping the character sprites, because all the sprites are already almost a year of age... my art has gotten better since then. But it's a pain to do it all over again... maybe I'll do it over the summer. But that'll also mean more delay.
Nah... it's not that anyone actually anticipating this. Perhaps I should focus on finishing this first and BAM! it's out.
